The MSU Knowledge Management Platform (MSU KM) is an online tool that provides and all-encompassing database of policy documents, publications as well as other key resources and information on IGAD’s Mediation Support undertakings.

In 2012 the Mediation Support Unit (MSU) was established to undertake mediation efforts and provide support to mediation interventions in order to mitigate violent conflicts. The MSU works on conflict prevention through preventive diplomacy and mediation, strengthening the capacities of member states in conflict prevention, peace building and mediation. This entails working with a wide network of organizations and experts in order to effectively respond to conflict situations as they arise as well as mitigate the recurrence of violence conflicts.
Mediation Structures
MSU aims to contribute to building IGAD’s normative capacity on preventive diplomacy and mediation and the creation of an enabling environment for peace, security and economic integration. With this objective, MSU developed structures to operationalize, institutionalize and professionalize mediation in the IGAD region.
