University of Khartoum educated at Khartoum University and Gazira University (Sudan). Dr Afaf holds a PH.D in community health, Faculty of Medicine, Gezira University, Wad Medani. 2005-2008. Masters Degree in Health Education in emergency settings Faculty of Medicine, Gezira University, Wad Medani, Sudan. 1998-2000. Post graduate Diploma in PHC and Health Education, Faculty of Medicine, Gezira University. Educated in Faculty of nursing Sciences, University of Khartoum. Among the many courses, Afaf is trained and certified in Humanitarian law and humanitarian principles by the Movement of Red Cross-Red Crescnt Societies INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS FOR THE PROTECTION OF INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS as a human Rights Observer by Sant'Anna University Italy. And by Hiroshima University Japan in Peace Education in general and challenges of knowledge creation.
Ms. Afaf spent most of her career working for UN and NGOs in country and international level. Relating to her areas of expertise Ms. AFAF has held a number of leadership and board positions including serving as (programme/project manager), in Sudanese Red Crescent, Save the children Canada, UNICEF/ Sudan country office, regional delegate for International Federation of Red Cross/crescent/ East Africa, MERLIN UK/London and Save the children UK/London. Her interest social matters led her to get engaged in several social and public issues; starting with Future Trends Foundation-National Think Tank-Sudan and her current position in PRI when she joint the institution in 2015. Moreover, a member for AU- Fem-Wise and at regional level she is a roster member for IGAD mediation mechanism and member for Greater Horn Horizon Forum a forum for intellectuals and scholars of the Horn of Africa, She has a well-to-do experience in teaching undergraduate students. The courses she taught include medical Sociology. Moreover, produced booklets and manuals for the people working in the field of HIV/AIDS
Did a number of consultancies for UNWOMEN, IFRC, UNAIDS, WHO, UNOPS, CIS, IDS UK, Coffee international (London), Christian Aid, Save the children international and a number of local NGOs and CSOs. She is an Associate of Partners in Development Services (PDS) and also a founding member of Sudanese Civil Society organization (SUDO) and volunteer for the Red Crescent Society.
